One of the questions I am asked most frequently is “What is an “editorial” senior session? And how is it different from a traditional senior session?” Well, I’m glad you asked!
Technically, an editorial session is a collection of images that tell a story.
Think of an ad campaign for your favorite clothing brand. The images guide you through the “story” that the brand is telling through the clothing. So, for me, as a Senior Portrait photographer, I want to tell the story of YOU – the Senior. Our images will not be about selling a product, but will be about representing a mood, your personality, your fashion and the things that make you happiest.
Does fashion play a part in creating an editorial senior session?
YES! Blending elements of fashion trends, color and style all contribute to a more editorial senior portrait look.
Do I style all of my senior clients?
Technically, no. I don’t go out and look for clothes that I’d like to photograph the senior in, but I do provide a complimentary wardrobe and style consultation for EVERY senior so that we can incorporate existing pieces from their personal wardrobe into their shoot. I may put them together in a way that you’ve never done before, but they are YOUR clothes, which means they fit your personality and style! Being comfortable in your clothes is a huge part of telling your story – you will look like yourself, your clothes will fit you perfectly, and will be colors that you enjoy wearing.
